Your understanding of financial facts is truly Sam Sloan-ish. Far
from being an architect of 'financial near collapse' I served on the
Executive Board when the USCF finally turned the financial corner,
running surpluses of around $200,000 in each of my last two budget
years on the Executive Board. If you're going to throw mud, at least
know which way the wind is blowing, because your silly claims just
blow back in your face.
Perhaps you should stick to playing the lottery - you know, a game of
pure chance rather than skill. It seems to better suit you.[/quote]
I do not even know who "dwl1945" is but I do know that he is right.
Randy Bauer has been a disaster on the board as he has provided the
swing vote on numerous terrible decisions made by the USCF Board,
including the following:
1. The move to Crossville was an incredibly bad decision. We owned the
building in New Windsor free and clear and we had a dedicated and
underpaid staff. Bauer pushed hard for the move to Crossville even
though it is true as he points out that the first time he voted
against it. Bauer said we could hire employees in Crossville cheaper
than in New Windsor. Why he said that I do not know but is seems like
it was just a guess, not based on any study. Turns out the new hires
in Crossville were hired at salaries much higher that the laid off
staff in New Windsor they were replacing plus there were incredible
problems with among other things the pension plan in New Windsor
because of course when almost the entire staff in New Windsor had to
be laid off they immediately became entitled to their pensions plus
the USCF lost almost all the books and records in the move.
2. Outsourcing the Books and Equipment which was pushed by Bauer has
been a disaster. Prior to this USCF annual revenues was $6.5 million
and the books and equipment business was the highly profitable cash
cow that provided the majority of the revenues. Instead under the Big
Man at the Top and Bauer it was outsourced to Hanon Russell who agreed
to pay us $350,000 per year but in the end never paid us anything. I
do not even know what the revenue figures are any more but it is under
$3 million, or less than half.
3. Prior to Bauer USCF membership was over 90,000. I do not know what
the figure is any more but it is under 60,000 and most of them are
kids.
4. The surplus Bauer claims of $200,000 is the result of an accounting
trick. Actually, the USCF now is at best breaking even which I agree
is better they the horrific losses under the Big Man at the Top and
Bauer. The $200,000 is the amount the USCF supposedly receives from
the "Old LMA Account" every year. However, that account disappeared
under Frank Niro in 2003 who also himself disappeared too (although he
resurfaced at the recent US Open in Vancouver Washington).
This is only the beginning of a long list of bad things that have
happened to the USCF under Bauer but I have given up trying to tell
you about them because the Board of Censors deletes everything I post
within minutes after it appears here as this one will right after I
post this.
