Sensational News: A previously unknown woman is on the brink of winning the World Open Chess Championship. No woman has ever done this before or even come close. Moreover, she is only 17. Zhansaya Abdumalik is from Kazakstan. She defeated several grandmasters. She is playing on Board One and is now tied for the lead. She has the advantage in her last round game. If she wins this last round game she will be at minimum in a two-way tie for first and there will be a blitz playoff. If the other last round game on the top boards is not decisive she will be the sole winner of the World Open Championship.
She started with a rating far down the list and was little noticed until this round when she suddenly appeared on Board One.
