I have bought the equivalent of a book store. I bought at auction 177
lots of books, each with 30 or 40 books in a lot although a few of the
lots had a hundred books. I estimate that there are about six thousand
books altogether.

Here are a few of the items.

Complete Encyclopedia Britannica, 15th Edition, 1993 version, all 29
volumes plus index in like-new condition.

Complete 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica. all volumes leather cover is
frayed and worn but inside is in like-new never read condition.

Proceedings of the British Academy, one volume per year from 1982 to
1994

The Bijutsu Kenkyu, The Journal of Japanese Art Studies. About 100
issues from the 1930s.

I plan to sell them if and when I ever get around to it as I am very
busy with other projects.

Anybody interested in these items please let me know.

It would be interesting to read its entries on, say, the two world
wars, jet engines, electronics and space flight.

On a more serious question, I would like to see if they predicted
these things. I think that trouble was already brewing between
countries and it was no longer a question of whether the wars would
start, just when.

Well, you have the books, right? Just read them and tell us if the
1911 Britannica predicted that a major war was coming soon. As far as
jet engines, electronics and space flight are concerned, it probably
says the same thing today's encyclopedias say about things like
relativity condensers and dodecahedal casuistry: "Not invented yet."

Right. I knew that. That is the reason I only bid $5 for it and I won
the auction.

I did not know and apparently the other bidders did not know either
that the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica has become a collectors item
worth thousands of dollars.
