Winner of the award for most beautiful girl chess player
It was a close contest with many worthy contestants, and a difficult
choice to make.
But the winner on tie-breaking points for the Sam Sloan Special Reward
for most beautiful girl chess player at the 2012 World Open Chess
Championship in Philadelphia has been won by
Anna Matlin.
A stunning beauty, Anna is a strong chess player too. Rated 2073 by
the USCF, she defeated FIDE Master Andrew Karklins in Round 2 and she
had a draw with a USCF rated master in the round just completed.
Not surprisingly, Anna is popular with the boy chess players. Boys are
always talking to her. As soon as one goes the next one comes.
The traditional winner of the Sam Sloan Award, Alisa Melekhina, did
not come this year. We hope she has not given up chess.
